A native Northern Californian, Alex began his career by apprenticing with Chef Walter Manzke in Carmel. He refined his culinary skills at The Little Nell in Aspen, regarded as one of Colorado’s premier luxury resorts, working with Chef Ryan Hardy. Alex’s Russian heritage and travels throughout Europe have served him well in influencing his kitchen style.
Since settling in Napa Valley, Alex has worked at various wineries such as Kuleto Estate, Robert Mondavi Winery, and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars. He has also worked as a private chef for numerous clients, including the Nickel Family on their private yacht, the Motor Vessel Far Niente.
As Estate Chef for Inglenook, Alex not only oversees all culinary events that take place on the property, but also directs wine and food education and tends two Chef’s Gardens, which drive seasonal inspirations for his menus. Focusing on unique and wine-friendly ingredients, Alex strives to create culinary experiences that enhance the respective flavor characteristics of the wines, while keeping true to Inglenook's highest value of combining authenticity and ingenuity.
