History
Produced since 1999 as a partner to Rubicon, Inglenook’s premier red wine, Blancaneaux is a blend of three estate-grown white Rhône varieties. The Marsanne and Roussanne contribute body and minerality, while the Viognier adds an intense bouquet of tropical fruits. These varieties are grown in vineyard blocks that enjoy full morning sun, but are in the full shadow of Mount St. John by mid-afternoon..
Vintage
Rainfall in winter and spring was bountiful, totaling nearly 50 inches. While our white Rhône varieties bloomed relatively late, periods of considerable summer heat accelerated ripeness, leading to a normal harvest schedule. The Viognier blocks were low-yielding, which allowed them to ripen on time with superb concentration. All fruit for the 2017 Blancaneaux was harvested from August 26th through the first week of September.
